The 10 Keys to Personal Power

Brain Tracy

Briantracy.com

Key 1: Clarity
"Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you're going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."

Reflection: I think clarity means what you want to do, mainly something important in your life. have a vision of that career you want to achieve, others may put you down but you have the ability to keep on going. have specific goals get to choose many of them and find out what's good for you. never give up on that one  specific goal, always have a positive thought about that one goal, and chase it. always have an idea, try to plan it so when you really want to complete that goal it would be easier to accomplish.

Key 2: Competence

"If you commit to excellence, opportunities will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get."

Reflection: this quote means if you commit to some certain things in life you can get really far with your future. the harder you work the better you get, some people don't study or work for the things they want in life. they just don't do it and doesn't really bother them that they can't do it. people just have to work and study with an education in order to live and have food on your plate every single day, same goes with money and time. So make sure to take those opportunities in life so you could live happy and wealthy.

Key 3: Concentration

"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself "Is this the best use of my time?" before you start anything."

Reflection: This quote talks about being concentrated in life and working on the good things you need to do. Concentrating yourself into the important stuff can really make you know a lot of things, also using the best time for it. either studying for a test, concentrating in class to finish work, or going home doing homework as well. Put yourself in that comfortable situation where you could learn and have a quiet moment and get to relax, thinking about all the positive thoughts you have in your head. this what makes you concentrate even more.

Key 4: Common Sense

  • Train your mind
  • think things through
  • listen to your intuition
  • learn from setbacks
Reflection: I think this is a great set up of how to learn and educate yourself from things you have learned on your own. the setbacks of how to do better next time or in the future as well. listen to your thoughts that's going in your head of what not to do or whats good to do. train your mind to behave, good think good and work good. all of those steps can acknowledge you to learn better from the past mistakes you have probably done.

Key 5: Creativity
"Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most are the most creative ask the most questions

Reflection: I think it's true many people that are smart and mostly are a genius do ask a lot of questions to find out more and learn more as well. those type of people figure out the best information out there and the best easiest ways to be better perform better and compete better. people who don't ask many questions as others don't have that type of mind set about learning other new things. or they just find it easier by themselves to learn or that already know how to. It is important to have questions about what you are interested in, so that way you have a better idea of learning it. There is different kinds of people out there that may think different, That's what I think, but every one is smart at there own way.

Key 6: Consideration
"The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."

"Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc."

"If you were to learn new word a day, within 5 years, you'll be the best educated person in history."

Reflection: All this requires you to be a better listener and not having to do bad in classes or with anyone that you talk to, friends, family, teachers, professors. This involves a lot of you're effort to be the best at the work you want to learn and want to achieve, in life you need to know what you are good at and to go further with that goal in order to get a good job and earn really good amount of money. Also be saving that money that currency and spend it on the stuff you actually need not just stuff to buy and perceive it.

Key: 7: Consistency

"Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work. "

"Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work. Be the person that people can depend upon. That if your say you'll do something you do it."

Reflection: be consistent and know what you are doing, be careful and try not to make any mistakes.  You should know how to get the job done, be the best and learn things the right way. always be consistent with work, all the important stuff, looking out for any mistakes and correcting them.

Key 8: Commitment

"no success is possible without commitment. The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success."

"Become totally absorbed in your work. Be totally committed."

Reflection: I think this quote is correct, it absolutely says the right thing. Knowing how to commit and making good decisions in school or whether it's in sports etc. many people out there can commit to the stuff they're passionate about what they love. But some are not committed to anything, you just have to commit or else what else are you going to learn and be good at, there is a lot of things out there that are fun and enjoyable but again a lot of people just don't take the opportunity to take it. in america there is many jobs and good benefits that you can get here and no where else. but by achieving your goal you have to work for it and earn it.

Key 10: Confidence

"You only get confidence by doing things over and over again."
Reflection: having good confidence will help you maintain the goals you really want to reach, also you can be more confident if you put the effort in the work you are doing. a lot of people don't have confidence about themselves they just have no confidence and don't actually like the way they are or aren't good at anything. I mean any one has a passion that they love to do, people do.

Freelance Post
yesterday I was skating with my friends and i was having a lot of fun, learned a lot of new tricks. I also went to the skate park and skated there too. i love skating at salt lake, that's where I train and do all my tricks. i don't really skate anymore how i used to, now I'm more focused on other things like in school mostly that gets in my way, it takes away my time and i don't get to have that free time i used too. but I still continue loving my passion to skate I hope i don't try to stop but all I need to do is to try harder and have all that confidence in me. skating was my first habit and now became a lifestyle knowing that I skate well enough, I hope i'll get a chance to be on a team and to get sponsored.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People

Habit 1: Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Reflection: being proactive means like to be motivated and smart about things. do things with precaution, and just caring about good stuff in your life. doing this to other people helping others with homework, teaching them how to do good things, maybe teach some kids how to ride a skateboard. this habit could keep you going and the stuff you need to do with your life. its the main key to success.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)
"When you know where you intend to end up, you know where are you are now." (covey)

Reflection: I think this habit really opens up your mind to new things in life, think about having to do good in school and in jobs as well. control your life with a passion, love that passion, and continue to do what you love to do. a lot of people go through life chasing their dream and accomplishing it, many others don't. a lot of people just give up to fast, they need to learn and skill the passion they love. so they can perfect it. that's how I think of it, many things are impossible, but you can show the possibilities that many people won't try to do and you'll prove it.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
"Organize and execute around priorities"

Reflection: usually putting things in first like working on your homework and then skate, or like studying for a big test and then get to have your free time. a lot of things you need to put in first is mostly your education time. all the fun things after. organizing stuff that you need necessary and also mainly things you need for your future job. notice the important things and follow your career set, what you want to do and how you want to do it. succeeding in life could get you really far, you just have to put in the time for that job. and then you'll have it.

Habit 4: Think Win- Win
"Think win-win or no deal."

Reflection: thinking about winning will help you to win. many things can help you to win and stay focused. I realized doubting yourself won't motivate you at all to do something in life. if you fail don't just give up, you have to keep going. pushing the limits and the boundaries can cause many positive things in your way. believing in yourself will motivate yourself, also get to talk to different people around you that may help you with your career.

Habit 5: Seek First to understand, then to be understood
"Diagnose before you prescribe."

Reflection: looking into stuff first would be the best thing to do, then after looking and planning you could finally do something about it and make it happen. reaching those types of goals can make your life worth more, also making it to the top. therefore you won't have any mistakes in your life, living a good life with good remarks. listing the the things you want to accomplish, write it down on a notebook or diary, this would always make your life easier.

Habit 6: Synergize

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts(1+1=3)"

Reflection: I think this means that doubling up your work and the things you are passionate about. one thing is greater than another people might say, but i think the passion and dreams are better than anything in the world. you live to that moment to do what you love and your inspired by it. you have that energy to do anything and forget about about the bad things in your life in that short moment of success. i usually try not to doubt my self but i really want to get out of poverty and help my family bring them out as well. knowing school is there for me to learn different opportunities and earn skills is very important to me, but i also love the sport i do and want to make it a career out of it, both my plan A and plan B. i just want to work my butt off until i make it, hopefully i do reach that successful point in my life and won't have to worry about nothing else anymore.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
The Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

Reflection: I think everything has to do with these 4 types of characters about yourself and how to learn these. Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social and Emotional all these have to do with everything you do in life, every day when you go somewhere, talking to people, loving them and caring about them. being social can help you to get to know people also by hanging out with those type of peers. having to have fun with them you'll really be happy in life about what you did with friends and loved ones.

Reflection: Reading the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People changed my whole perspective of life and I lived it. I plan to live my life different, being able to learn these habits could change the way i talk to people, I can make more friends at school or anywhere else. One of my favorite habits is Habit number 2, this habit really helped me find my own path in life knowing I can better my self at things that i was really good at. Like a passion I love to do or a sport, giving the time to read habit number 2 finding what I love to do made me more motivated to try it, also to prepare me for more upcoming advantages in the future. Realizing that now i get to think about something important that can change my life in the future, it made me feel good about my self. I hope to continue what I am doing and following into good foot steps down the road.
